Samuel Whalen - Slippery Rock University Alumnus, Legal Professional
A resident of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Samuel Whalen earned his bachelor’s degree from Slippery Rock University, where he made the dean’s list. Samuel Whalen subsequently earned his juris doctor, graduating cum laude from the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University.
Mr. Whalen currently serves as a litigation associate at The McShane Firm, where he represents individuals facing criminal charges. In this role, he focuses on safeguarding clients’ legal interests through thorough preparation, strategic advocacy, and clear communication throughout the legal process.
Previously, he worked as an assistant public defender in Erie County, Pennsylvania, where he managed cases from early proceedings through final resolution. He successfully negotiated case resolutions, secured dismissals, and advocated for clients in both jury and bench trials. His earlier experience includes legal internships and clinic work focused on criminal and civil matters, as well as advocacy for veterans.
Mr. Whalen is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the DUI Defense Lawyers Association, and the Dauphin County Bar Association. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising and reading literature on history. He is a fan of Pittsburgh sports teams.
